Which engines can fit into a Canadian built 1997 Civic Si without modifing Wiring harness and Engine
Would someone be able to provide me with an engine list of possible swaps that can be made into a 1997 Civic Si (Canada) without modifing the wiring harness and changing engine mounts.
The car had a D16Y8 (The vtec engine) 99% sure.

Ummm...another d16y8
other than that, if you modify minor wiring: another D series (such as iacv or iat)
Mounts for any and all b series you need to change 2 (minimum)...TS
most you will have to wire, for b series, is IAT connector, because theyre different, if located on the intake manifold

Re: (pdiggitydogg)
Can someone provide me with information on what my buddy would have to change to drop in a B16A1 into his Si.
He just destroyed his D16Y8 somehow, and can get a B16A1 from a friend of his, with well ALOT of km, but almost free, so he wants to know how much headache this will be...

http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...p.php (basic idea)
its easier than you would think...having done it twice myself, I could do another in less than 5 hrs
I do not, however, suggest the b16a1...
It would be much easier to use something that is at least 92-00, e- connector wise....that and the trans on the a1 is cable instead of hydraulic (and unless he feels like converting...its not going to work)

if hes not looking for a power upgrade...just tell him to find another d16y8..everyone swaps those out and there will be plenty of people willing to sell one for dirt cheap

since car is obd-2 wired already for vtec...a b16 will drop right in with the (us) si motor mounts. the wiring will mostly plug and play..with lil modification to some parts sensors, altern., etc...its still going to be a lil mod.

If he just has to step up to b series, theyre all about the same difficulty when going into an ej8 chassis (again, sticking with something 92+)
