Default Engine Swaps?

Okay, so this will be my first post. I'm not new to Honda-Tech, I've hung around for a while just browsing topics and searching for information that I need. I work at a garage, so I get to drive a lot of vehicles, and just a few days ago I got to drive an Integra GSR with a B18C in it. This was the same engine that I wanted to put into my 95 ex... So I figured it would be fairly impressive. In other posts, I've even heard from SOHC to dual I wouldfeel a difference. It might be just me, but I didn't notice much of a difference.. It felt like I was driving my Civic. And I havent done much to mine, I plan on boosting very soon but I always stop myself thinking it would be better to invest in a turbo for a more powerful engine as a better starting point. I know the numbers for torque and horsepower are there on a b18, so why is it about the same as my d16?

Really? I noticed a big difference when I swapped in my b18c1 (had a y8 before).

How high did you take it? I have noticed that the gsr, like any other Honda engine, really doesn't wake up until about 4-5000 rpm. From 5-8K, there's a huge difference. I no longer have to downshift to 3rd to pass people, or 4th to go uphill. Got a lot of 5th gear pull now, where before I had none. I also noticed that it's a lot easier to start from a stop, probably because of the extra torque. But then again, I have a b16 transmission, so maybe that makes a difference. I just know I'm happy with it.

Maybe there's something wrong with his gsr. There's no way a properly running B18c1 should feel like a d16.

Ya serious?

I moved on from a Civic with a D16y7 to a Integra SEDAN w/ LS B18B1 and I noticed a huge difference.

Not only in acceleration and speed, but the sound of a B series under WOT is so sweet.

As for a GSR to feel like a y8, no way lol.

i just went form a d16y8 to a b18b1 and it's got quite a bit more pull to it. and it's only the ls, not a gsr or c5

i got a 99 that had y8. swapped a b16 and noticed little difference. boosted b16 then to boosted b18c1, notice a big difference. Can't answer for stock on stock motors though.

like anyone else is saying maybe that gsr wasnt healthy and you weren't feeling the full potential of the gsr vs. guessing your heathly y8 or z6.
