Yes it does matter. The 92-00 all use Shift Linkages ( hydrolic) not Cables.
As far as i know, the only motor you would need a Cable conversion for is the H22.

you can go either way with it. Hasport.com has the conversion to mount a cable trans in a hydro car (your car is hydro). but I always recommend putting a hydraulic tranny if at all possible. the clutch action will be much smoother with a true hydro setup.
