Re: del sol b18a1 swap questions. someone please help this noobie! (decible212s)
WTB" 92-95 4dr Civic...I got a kid on the way so I was thinking of swapping the K20 out os my Rsx into a 4dr Civic...Anyone know where I can get just a Civic shell or know anyone have one up for sale?
Second part of the question is...Is there a thread with a walkthroug of this swap. I plan to do as much as I can on my own. If I get stuck then I will bring it into shop and get the help I need. And also, what all will I have to harvest from the Rsx to bring over to the Civic?

Ok. Some of you may already know I'm doing a d16y8 swap for the same ****.... And I know most of you disagree with me on this choice of spending my money... but anyways....
So the new/rebuilt d16y8 long block is on its way. I started to disassemble the engine bay:
*Flushed engine oil, coolant, transmission oil.
*Removed the radiator (the one on the left) but couldn't take out the hoses from the engine, yet.
*Unplugged everything I could unplug but I still can't take out the wiring harness. According to my instructions it says to unplug the wriring harness on the left side then on the right side but those babies are tricky. Should I just say '[freak] it' to all those tie-wrap things holding the cables, tear'em up and buy new ones once I install everything back on? Or should I just wait till the motor's out?
*Loosened the intake manifold and detached all hoses that are attached elsewhere (cause I plan on putting the same intake back on).
*Loosened the exhaust manifold (havent take it out cause the car's still on the floor)
*Emptied the A/c thing. (those lil 2 blue things 'right there' in the engine bay) Did I have to decompress (take out) the 'whatever is in there'? I think it's freeon or something like that...
Basically I did everything I could do by myself with the limited knowledge I have. Now I'm waiting for the engine to arrive so I can tow it to where my engine will be replaced and once there I'll have people with more knowledge than me to assist me in the swap... But I rather do most of the work myself so once there, the install will be fairly quick and less time to install it means less money I gotta pay out.
Of you people who have experience doing swaps, specially the same swap (y8), do you guys have any advice for me? Are there things I can still do before I take my car to the shop?
I decided to do the swap myself cause it seems pretty simple to take an engine out, take all the **** attached to it off, and intall everything back on a new/rebuilt engine that's the same as the one I'm taking out. For me, even thou I have no experience doing this, it's just like plug-n-play, but just many... maaaany hours of plug-n-play... Does anyone know of a tutorial on engine swaps, my engine in particular? So again, give me any advice you might have in regards to this... Thanks!!!!

Re: del sol b18a1 swap questions. someone please help this noobie! (Tyte-S)
tyte s, u gotta have money and patience to do a k series eg. i did a k series swap on a 4 door civic which it came out real good, i would recommend a k into a ek, eg's are too difficult, b series is perfect for eg's and if u willin to spend money on a eg to go fast make it a fully buitl b series. i did that once in a friends eg it ran better b series. k series is too expensive

If you can get your hands on a Helm's Manual, it gives you a step by step how-to for your exact car. There are a few places that have this manual online without purchasing but you'll have to search.

Since I already have the motor, how much will I be looking at to make this swap happen considering I get a shell for $400-$1000?

yes and no because if the tranny is on the engine than no you dont need 1 but the
d,b,h series are easy now.

the motor mounts for the ek and eg's to go k is really expensive, and so is the wire harness, axles, fuel lines, fuel pump and labor and sometimesu have to make modifications which is a pain in the butt u myte b looking around 3 grand if u got the motor, but u said u got everything in a rsx shoot i would mess an rsx or the rsx is crashed or wat? cuz u can get more money sellin a complete rsx or sellin it by parts my reccomendatons? get urself a great mechanic who have done a k series swap before, u have everything already, he just gonna charge u labor but u myte have to get certain parts get 3 grand just in case is not gonna cost u all 3 grand but just in case u myte need anything do it

wire harness $150-300 suspension if your going to do it right $1000+ i have a 99 gsr suspension on mine and it still needs to b a lil bit stiffer. fule line and rail #? shifter cable $? so ma b u MIGHT can do for 3k but thats a BIG MIGHT...lol but you still going to pay for labor unless you done some k swaps your self

Re: What swaps are available for my Civic? (Ricey McRicerton)
who's done a h22 swap into an eg?
i know lots of you have
how was it?
i heard you need to do a few cuts, maybe welds?
and for saying it could cost about the same as a b18c5 after its all said and done is that true?
wanting only to swap an h22 and put pistons and cam in
NA for sure
