i have the d15b7 engine. it was overheating and spitting coolant out anywhere it could. a mechanic told me it was a blown gasket and said it would cost about $1000 to fix. i get it home, pull out the 4 spark plug wires and notice that only 2 of them have the spark plug boot on. i know one of the spark plug wires would come out while i was driving and i would lose power immediately. pull over, shove it back in, and make it another 15 minutes down the road. i dont know much about engines, but if i just replaced the wires and got new ones with all the boots on them, could that possibly fix my car?

 

no, plug wires falling off isnt going to fix the problem of coolant falling out of your engine.

 

well it was building up oil around the plug wire and causing it to come out....is it a blown head? gasket? should i just get a new engine?

 

i found a site that shows how to fix the problem of getting oil in spark plug wires......not sure if its all i need to do or not though....just says to replace rocker arm gaskets and the gaskets right under the valve cover
