Default Engine Noise

After the car (d16z6) has been running for about 30-45 mins it makes this random almost knocking type noise that comes from the right side of the engine (belts, altenator, etc side) and almost sounds like its comming from the bottom of the engine. It doesn't do it at all when its cold and is quiet untill its been running for a while. Any ideas?

only knocking I know of is the common input shaft bearing problem...when you push the clutch in it goes away...does it do that?

k well I think ur noise that "goes away" is probably an input shaft bearing...

check the timing belt side for play

Well I wasn't really worried about the tranny side, just the timing belt side.. so it could be the belts?

is it more of a ping, or a really quick rattling, kinda like the noise a diesel makes?

My ex engine had piston slap, sounded like a garbage truck!

yeah try a valve adjustment...otherwise, if the noise goes away when u push the clutch in it is an input shaft bearing

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=596873 ---> Bauley, who loves input shaft bearings

oil is fine, and its more of random knocking type noise that sounds like its comming from the bottom right area of the engine (near the belts)

bump again, the noise sounds like it might be comming from the head, and getting louder. there's a whirring sound comming from the belts so i guess i need to get those replaced but i don't know what to do about the almost knocking/rattling noise from around the head area.

what is your setup? it could be piston slap. If it sounds like rattling then it could also be detonation

the engine is stock but it has 183k on it but i've taken care of it with oil changes every 3,000-4,000 miles since i've had it and haven't had any other problems. But yeah, the noise is almost like a rattle/vibration and it is the most common when i take it out of gear and the rpms drop to 750, like when at a stoplight. The whirring noise picks up around 1200 rpm and then gets drowned out.

And this noise occurs even when you push the clutch in? Because my knocking noise came from the entire engine bay, and it was hard to pinpoint. If it isnt that, it is most likely a bad belt or tensioner making the whirring noise (timing belt possibly, my timing belt whined when I had the wrong belt and it was too tight) and the clicking sounds like its from valves tapping and that can be easily fixed with a valve adjustment, which I have said earlier. About the battery light, it could be a bad alternator that needs to be replaced. Try a valve adjustment and see if that works instead of ignoring what I say and asking the same question over and over again.

is it safe to drive on a car that needs a valve adjustment because i'm pretty busy for the next couple of days and wont be able to do it right away.

Yeah its fine. Its just a general maintenance thing. They do it every 15,000 miles or so when you go to get ur checkup at the honda dealer. Its like changing your oil. Yeah you need to do it, but you dont have to do it right away.
