Default engine died

hey, i just bought a 95 sol vtec and the engine was dead in it, so i just dropped the oil pan to see what had happned and it blew a bearing taking out a connecting rod and scarring the block a little...main cause was the dipshit who owned it before me ran it without oil(as noted on stealership documentation i found in the glovebox)

so ive been looking around for a replace shortblock, i found a b16a remotely near me that i was going to buy but the ***** never returned my calls/emails...

now ive found a b18b longblock without any accesories(dist,alt,etc)...which leads me to my questions

can i use the accesories from my b16a3 on the b18b1?
doubt this one, but can i use my ecu? also have a ecu from my sol im parting out(p28, 5-speed)
also, im pullling the current engine, the on the shift rod, how the **** do you get that damn spring pin out?? its the only thing keeping the engine in the car...

thanks
Joe

1: you can use an A/C compressor bolt, if you need to, i popped one out with an a/c bolt today, worked like a champ.

2: You can probably use the alternator from the b16 on the LS, but not the dist. Also, I suggest keep looking for a b16 shortblock, popping the head on another block is easy dood, there are probably 100 of them for sale right this minute, just look.

3: Do you have powersteering? I think that the P/S bracket for the head is a little different on LS's than b16 or gsr equipped vehicles. I'm not sure of that though.

4: It seems like del sol vtec owners never take care of their cars. A few months ago, i finished swapping a jdm gsr motor into a del sol vtec, where the previous owner rebuilt the motor, and due to lack of balance/neglect to replace oil pump, the oil pump gears exploded and the new owner drove it to it's demise, a few short miles down the road.

Good luck! PM me if you need help with the head swap to the b16 shortblock.

either honda/acura or get arp head bolts, which you can reuse, unlike honda.

Race Engineering sells them.

Find any old redneck machine/performance shop. They always sell ARP stuff. I guarantee anywhere you are, there is a "race car" builder somewhere nearby. Just find em, I think they go for at the most $150, but i think i paid like 130 for mine.

i ordered arp studs from jegs...$140 shipped next business day

got the head off the old block, turns out the old block is in good shape all things considered, so im going to take it to the machine shop and have the little bit of damage fixed

then im going swap it back in the sol cuz the block i got(jdm w00t, lol) has a couple problems...like a mounting ear for the tranny is broken and today when i was threading the oil pressure sensor into the block, the block broke so i have to weld that tomorrow
