engine choice?
my friend is swapping out his stock HX motor out of his 97 and was wondering what kind of options he has. hes looking for something with more stock HP, TQ, and something with vtec. what is there as far as easy (all things considered) swaps? i was thinking he could just get an Si engine put in there, but i figured id ask HT. thanks for the help suggestions.
oh and what sites should i look at? ive been watching Hmotorsonline.com and a few others but...
JDM or USDM doesnt matter.
thanks

B16A2, B18B, B18C1 those are the main choices for most people. The B16 and the B18B have decent amount of power. Although the B18B doesnt have vtec it's still all around good motor.

so i found a B18C engine for a 96-00 TypeR,
a B16A 92-95 SiRII complete change over,
and a B18C 94-97 GSR complete change over,
these would fit yes?

Re: (shiux)
those would all fit yes. as for going turbo either of those engines would be fine. as for which would be the best for turbo, i have no idea. i'd have to probably say the b18c1 is best for turbo tho since the b18c5 is built for NA and the b18c1 will make more torque than the b16. but thats just my logic, maybe some more experienced HT people will chime in on it.

ls turbo's = IMO
I would get a b16 and save the $1,000 you saved by getting the b16 instead of the b18c1 and spend it on a greddy kit or homemade turbo. b16 is plenty fast.
We talking track car or Daily driver?

Re: engine choice? (professor poon)
if you are going to boost.. I would say F*** all the dumb Sh** go with a B20 with a GSR or a Type R Trans and then you will not have to do a whole lot of internal mods because the motor is stock such a low compression.
