Emissions...98 Civic Sedan.
Ok, I have a 98 Civic DX 5spd Sedan. My CEL came back on after having my Manifold/Cat, Downpipe, both O2 sensors, Rack, Tie Rods, and Upper Control Arms replaced. Took it to O'Reilly's and had the code checked. It came up being a P1457...Emissions. They told me that it was common for the Evaporative Tank Purge Valve/Solenoid to go bad on these cars. I just looked up the part online since they did not carry it, and it is well over $140. I want the forums opinion on this, maybe someone else has had this problem that could steer me in the right direction. I dont want to spend money on the wrong part after dumping over $1000.00 in parts and labor over this last weekend. Any help would be appreciated.

i had the same problem with that recently . to be for sure if your hesitant about paying $140 . you can have the EVAP system do a leak test. they put smoke in the tubes and see where its leaking. Theyll trace the source and that will tell you if that valve is busted.

Re: Emissions...98 Civic Sedan.
Thanks LowTEC, i really appreciate it. I will call around and see if anyone can do it at a decent price. I have not had the time lately to do any work on my car myself. With the baby, work, and other stuff...no time. I hate paying people to work on my car for me, but it had to be done. Thanks again!
