Default Ek hatch w/ b20b need a header

So I have a b20b swapped into my ‘97 ek hatch and I needed to get a new header and exhaust due to rust leakes. So I bought an Integra header off eBay for $60 and it bolts up just fine but the problem is that where it should bolt up to the cat points toward the ground so if I put a cat or test pipe on it then it will actally scrape the ground when I’m driving.

What I need is someone who knows what header I will be able to run that will not point towards the ground. Also, I’m going to be running the yonaka catback exhaust.

As you can see it has no place to bolt up to a cat or test pipe so I need a header that will fit bolt up wise and length wise to run the yonaka exhaust.

I need advice from someone who knows for damn sure what header options I have to work with that will fit for me with no problems.

I’m at school right now so I will post pics in about an hour.

thanks in advance

edit: I‘m using avid motor mounts if that makes any difference

the 96-00 hatchbacks had the cat on the header, DX/LX/CX. None of them had a separate cat. You'll have to take it to a muffler shop and have them cut and weld it with a 3 bolt flange. in order to mount up an si/ex style cat.

I see what you’re saying but if you look closely on this exhaust it’s a 2 bolt flange not 3. So I’m hoping I can find a header that can bolt up directly

That's normal. What Tony said still applies. The exhaust b-pipe bolted directly to the a-pipe when the Y7 was in there. You'll have to go to a muffler shop to have them shorten the pipe and apply the correct flange to mount a cat, or get a test pipe... or get a exhaust that is intended to be used with a cat under the car. I believe A'PEXi exhausts are configured this way, but it's literally been decades since I bought one for a hatchback so I don't remember.

Straight from the page you linked:

*Please note this model is a direct bolt on fit for the USDM model Civic only. Canadian models of the CX/DX use a catalytic converter that is not installed in the header. In order to fit Canadian models our mid pipe will need to be shortened - any muffler shop can accomplish this with minimal cost.*

FWIW, I was able to temporarily bolt up an A'PEXi WS2 to my sedan while it still had the Y7 in it, using a gutted EX/Si cat to fill in the extra length. I do believe the A-pipe is longer on the B18 manifolds though, so that will need to be considered.

i duly concur with everyone.

just had my b20vtec installed into my DX hatch (1999 ej6 hatch)...

basically, i ran into a problem where the exhaust i had was not correct, as well. my headers are 4-1 2-bolt flange style.
well..... i bought a used EM1 2.5" exhaust, but the muffler piping was far too long and the muffler was way too big-

so, on my exhaust, it had an under-car cat, attached to the new exhaust, but it would be pointless to use 2.5" exhaust, with the 1.5" cat.... so i had to buy a new hi-flow cat from them, so they welded a new flange to the purchased exhaust (was a 3 bolt design) and it went from

headers (2-bolt) to cat (2 bolt one side -> 3 bolt other side) to a 3 bolt catback, and they had to weld piping to my new muffler, which was a 3 -bolt, as well.

ended up costing 400, but i'll tell you what...... my car sounds VICIOUS now.

b20v, 4-1, high flow cat, 3ft resonator, to a vibrant muffler.... sounds AMAZING. none of that raspy yonaka / ebay crap.

i used the godspeed 4-1 headers, piping from an em1 Megan Racing stealth kit, and a vibrant muffler. i love the growl and she purrs like a champ.

originally, when the swap went in, it was the 4-1 connected to the restricted stock DX cat/exhaust which was 1.75" and was running like dogshit.... now its 2.5 straight back and god, its nice now. pulls so hard too.
