I've been contemplating a build for an ek hatch and ive been on the fence about using my em1 as a donor for interior parts,wheels,brakes, 99-00 Front end conversion, etc... Just wondering if anybody has ever cut the roof and welded in the oem sunroof piece to have the oem look and functionality... Also, please spare me the weight criticism and how doing this would affect handling... I wont be autocrossing it or anything... I just prefer a sunroof.

not sure if it will work since the hatches roof line is a bit more curved than the em1's. seeing as the sunroof sinks under the roof not over it

Thanks again for yet another worthless post. It may be curved, but I think I may be able to get away with cutting out the roofskin and welding it in when it starts curving too much... I think there is enough clearance. I would have to custom fab a headliner, but thats not a big deal.

And I can't believe you keep thinking you're the only person to have this idea. There's a reason you're not getting responses. It's not worth doing. Go aftermarket or go home.
