ek civic alternator removal
waddup my alternator is seized up reall good. when i start the car all i hear is a really bad screeching and smoking WOOOW is that loud! but not only is my pulley seized so is the bolt that the alternator is supposed to rock on. u know the long bolt that looks like it has a square metal block on the end. ive banged on the end, ive tried to pry off the little block. ive even tries to take off the bracket but i cant bcuz the bolt right behind the alternator has very little space for any wrench to fit in for any movement, and even if i did manage to loosen the bolt it would be able to be removed completely because the bottom of the alternator is sligth in the way> any tips?

haha, this reminds me of a really good story that sucked when it happend. i ran into this same problem in a crx on the way from SC to memphis half way through Georgia... ended up spending about 10hours total in a gas station parkinglot trying to get it loose. ended up cutting through the the alternator housing with a hacksaw... it sucked. anyway, i hope you don't end up doing it this way. if you've never pulled one from a civic it's gonna have to come out through the wheel well..(unless you have the intake mani. off...) liquid wrench is your friend in this case. soak the bolt with the stuff and tap it some with a hammer to help it seep in. try some firm blows with a 32oz hammer. if it doesn't come loose spray it some more and go watch some tv for a bit. come back and see if it knocks out. if it still hates you and won't come loose, find a buddy with an air compresser and an air hammer, put the nut on so it protects the threads of the bolt but leaves room for some movement. and if that still doesn't work... go buy about six blades for your hacksaw...you'll need all of them.
