EG hatch not throwing codes..wtf!
My buddies 93 civic cx w/b18b swap is not throwing codes right. I put a paperclip in the 2pin connector by the ecu then turn the key to ON and the light just stays solid.
The check engine light comes on sometimes when driving and we were trying to check the code.
I got it to throw codes one day when I was hooking up a cx o2 conversion but before that day and after that day the CEL just stays solid when jumping the 2pin connector and turning the key to the ON position.
Any ideas why it is doing this?
I was thinking bad ecu but not sure since it doesn't always throw a CEL. And the code that came up before was for 41 for heated o2.

What specific problems are you having with the engine?
Test: If you disconnect the IACV and then run the engine, does the CEL remain ON and are you then able to pull an IACV CEL code from the ECU?
Did you previously recover CEL code 41 only because the O2 sensor was disconnected?
Is the 7.5A BACKUP fuse under the hood blown?

Re: EG hatch not throwing codes..wtf!
Before my buddy didn't have the o2 sensor wired up, that is how he bought the car. After he got the car I went to check the codes to see if anything would show up besides the o2 sensor. And when I tried it would just throw a solid cell with the 2pin connector jumped while the key is in the ON position.
A couple weeks later I tried to get the CEL to throw the codes and same thing, just a solid cell. I figured ECU might be bad.
A couple weeks later I got the CX o2 sensor harness so I could hook up his o2 sensor. Before installing it I tried to get the CEl to throw the codes again and after a couple tries it finally threw a code 41 for heated o2 sensor.
I finished the o2 harness install and no CELs while driving for a week.
Then he gets a CEL while driving but not everytime it is driven.
He stops over and I try to get the CEL light to blink the codes and it just stays solid when trying to get any codes off the ECU.
No one we know has a b18b obd1 ecu we can check so not sure if it is the ecu or what.
