ECUs closest to '95 Civic Vx?
1995 Honda Civic VX, manual transmission, D15Z1 (Vtec-E) engine; California; all stock.
Issue: timing: looong story; I'll tell if need be. (yes, we jumpered the service conn).
Multiple ASE mechanics have said the ECU is failing.
ECU/ECM/PCM: 37820-po7-L02
which have become very hard to find.
I'm in the midst of investigating the original ecu:
I've replaced all eight electrolytic caps. Removed caps look fine and test good with my capacitance meter. Replaced with high temp, higher voltage rating parts.
Next I plan on checking power rails, clocks etc. (I used to t'shoot computer motherboards for a living)
I'd kill close relatives for a schematic, btw. Call me spoiled.
...
Anyway, if I end up needing to replace the original ecu, which ECU's would require the fewest modifications to work with this vehicle/engine? I know I'll need to install the external EPROM, etc. per pgmfi.org.

What problems is your car having. I would say it is unlikely the ecu itself is bad, more likely a bad ground somewhere on the harness
What are your compression numbers.
Is your timing belt correct?

there are none that i know of as your engine has an egr and may also be using a 5 wire primary o2 sensor. the only other honda ecus that would plug in are the accord/prelude ones that have the egr, but none will support the wideband o2.

Your only option would be another p07 if you want to retain proper functionality...
