I put a new battery in about a week ago because the old one was dead but now the ECU learning period is going on forever. you know, when it warms up it bounces between 1k and 1.5k RPM, it's been doing that for 5 days now. Could it be the wet cold weather? or has my O2 sensor gone bad? I've reset the ECU before, it's just never take this long to figure things out.

It's not the ecu, but it could be a number of other things. I can only help based on what I've heard from my friends who have had this problem.

1) problem with throttle position sensor
2) air stuck in the coolant lines
3) intake air control valve malfunction
4) other vacuum hose leak
5) could even be a problem with your distributor/plugs but i doubt it

just to follow up here. I reset the ECU one more time (pulling the fuse thistime instead of the battery) and made absolutly sure I didn't rev over 3 or push it to hard. it seems to be back on a normal learning cycle after just a day. bouncing only a couple times before finding a smooth idle. by tomorrow I'm sure it'll be done figuring things out. I guess it just found a bad setting befoer and didn't change it.

I'll probably clean out the IACV anyway tho, I feel kinda like wrenching around the engine a bit.
