Default drum brakes going bad?

so im driving down the road and whenever i apply the brakes there would be this scraping sound coming from the rear passenger side. does that mean theyre about to crap out on me?

and can someone direct me to a good rear disc conversion FAQ as im about to do this soon.

TIA

mines do the same even after i put new pads on.
when was the last time u changed them. when mines were changed it was really bad.
there was almost no pad left and the drums was badly grooved
