Dome Light troubleshooting
Hello, I have a '93 del Sol S.
I recently replaced the dome light because the switch had stopped working reliably a while back.
Now that I have a newer one in there, it still isn't working quite right. The "on" and "off" portions of the switch work, but "door" results in the light being on no matter if the doors are open or not.
I've looked at the wiring diagram, and it's clear that the problem is that either the second wire to the light, or the wire to one of the door switches is shorted to ground, or one of the door switches is broken (permanently closed).
My first instinct was to look at the indicator panel on the dash to see which door was reporting open, but according to the wiring diagram that I have, neither of the doors are lighting up because the engineers decided that you didn't need to know if your doors were open. (They didn't put a light in the cluster for the doors.)
Has anyone experienced and/or fixed this problem?
Obviously I'm gonna break out the multimeter and start tracing the short this weekend, but if there are known areas where the short could be expected, it would speed up the tracing process nicely.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Dome Light troubleshooting
I experienced my dome light flashing and flickering while driving. Turned out that the door was not closing tight enough on the latch. Sit in the car with doors open and push in on rubberized button in door jam to see if the dome light goes off. Adjusting the door catch is just a matter of loosening the 2 screws and moving the latch a few mm's. I needed a ratchet with a bit holder on it to loosen the screws though!!

Re: Dome Light troubleshooting
^mine does that too. i just leave it on off and turn it on as needed. otherwise i strobe down a bumpy road. it's not a very effective light in the first place.
