dome light issue
I am having an issue with my cabin dome light in my 99 Civic Si. When I have the switch in the middle the light would flicker and sometimes turn on while I am driving. Seems to only happen when the car is moving. If I just sit there with the engine running the light would stay off. As I start accelerating/cruising it would start to flicker and sometimes stay on for a period of times (varies between 5 to 15 secs).
I have check the switch on the housing and the light bulb. Still no luck. I have an alarm on my car if that helps at all?
Does anyone know what is going on with my car. Seems like a ghost is playing tricks on me. Any type of suggestion would help... Thanks!

Hmmm... There has to be an issue with the wiring somewhere I'm guessing. It would make sense that as your driving, the car is going to get bumped around and would cause it to turn on. As opposed to it staying off while the car is stopped.

Try to hit the area aroung the light to try to get it to happen. You probably have a short to ground on the ground side of the bulb. Or a bad or loose switch.

your dome light is tied in with your door triggers, take a philips head screwdriver and take them out and make sure the contact to the metal surface is clean and free of any debris

Never knew where these were located, now I do.

Okay I cleaned out the door triggers. Still get my light flickering. I think it might be a loose wire somewhere. I need to actually find some time to do a full diagnostics on the light system.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions everyone!

ok here another idea, i put alarms in daily and i have seen some shadey a** sh*t by some so called "installers", what you need to do is find the door trigger wire (light green w/ red stripe) where it ties into the alarm (drivers kickpanel by hood release) then follow the alarm wire (possibly a green wire) back to the brain and make sure there are no pinches in it, and that it has been taped up properly

Yeah, a lot of so called Installers causing alot of trouble. I would disconnect the door triggers and go for a short drive if it's still happening check over the alarm wires.
Did you replace the radio by chance? someone can correct me if I remember wrong. a few years of the civic the Domelight/factory keyless runs power through the headunit. alot of shops leave the factory behind the dash, another possible place to check....
