Don't do it.... J/K I've been having problems with my y8 tranny. The shift forks are steel but the way they connect to the shaft is a joke.... I am on my second set of shift forks and 3rd tranny.... Seems like the 1-2 shift forks on the y8 trannies are prone to bending.... The z6Aluminum forks are much stronger....
Sorry to rant but as Bauley stated both clutche, pressure plate and flywheels are all interchangeable...

bending the 1-2 fork may be true.. but no way how can be... the EG forks are stronger than the EK's.. aluminum and steel.. come on.
the EK tranny is the way to go. EG's

What is the purpose of changing from the Z6 to the Y8 tranny? the gearing is the same. It's like having a Z6 engine and swapping a Y8 head onto it. Waste of time and money for no tangible benefits.

Because Mista Bone says that the Y8's steel shift forks are stronger and more durable than the Z6's aluminum ones. And since everyone in this forum hangs from his ******* (including myself), everyone believe that the Y8 is worth swapping to from the Z6.

Dude, I did read...can anyone prove how much stronger they are? For your basic daily driven D16 is it going to make a significant difference in the reliability of the car? I seriously doubt it. If you bang the Z6 tranny hard enough to snap the forks, at some point you're bound to damage your Y8 tranny too.
To me it's like getting forged 9.5:1 c/r pistons for your all-motor daily driver. Definitely stronger than stock...but do you really need them?

speed shift your Z6, and then let me know how long your shift forks last... syncro's arn't the issue... they're the same.

I don't argue with the Bone either, he is the guru. Speed shift any D-tranny and see whether the forks or the synchros are first to go. I got a Y8 tranny, forks might be alright but syncros are on the way out since I first put it in.
Even Mista Bone will tell you, you can only shift the tranny so quick or it's just going to go bad on you one way or another.

Not true. My del sol S has a clutch with 10 less MM all the way around. Did not work with a ACT clutch that was sold to me so I had to get an ex flywheel. Also dependent upon what tranny you get from a y8 and the year, the mount may be different, and some of the sensors may look different, and some of the placement of things is moved around a little bit.
Hope this helps out some.

So who knows. I'm 99.999999 % sure of my previous statement.
