doing a trans and axle swap...need help please
i have 2 2-ton stands that im thinking of using to suppor the front end of my car while i take out the axles and trans. Good or bad idea? Where would i put the stands to support the weight? i'd assume on the frame but where is the best spot?
how do you get the axles to release from the trans?
taking the rotors off, there is only the one nut on the end of the axle right?
this is my first major project. i've done some small stuff under the hood but nothing of this scale yet so any help and tip/suggestions are greatly appreciated. I've read some posts so i have a general idea of how to do it but if someone could answer my questions that will be greatly apprecieated
thanks

if you 'search' the site, all these questions are answered in HOW-TO's w/ pics.
1) get the car on *4* jack stands. one jackstand at each jack up spot....theres one behind each front wheel area, and then before the wheel area for the rears. plus, you must have the car completely level when you put tranny fluid back in.
2) to get axles to release from tranny, you PULL really hard. or you can take a block of wood and try hammering from the backside of the hub.
3) im assuming that when you typed "taking the rotors off", you probably mean the hubs? to remove the hubs there is 1 main axle bolt at the very end, and then 3 additional little balljoints/bolts that connect to the rest of the suspension.
if you look in the civic forum's FAQ, there's a few how-to's that'll tell you how to do it.
by the way, what kind of transmission you putting into what car?
