Not a clue, but the first gen ones had a lot of problems with tearing apart and getting caught in the TB. At least that's what I heard. . .

yea a while back scc did a review and test on the bypass valve, and it worked...but suposedly you loose a lil hp due to the extra turbulence in the intake

Ive got one on my AEM ITR CAI in my ej6. No problems with water getting sucked up in it (knock on wood) and I lost my splash guard to a deer, so with the filter like 3 inches from the ground and the torrential downpours out here lately, I've still had no problems. Can't guarantee that it's the bypass valve, but you will lose a bunch of power with it on. Every little thing I can do to keep H20 out of my motor gets a from me though!

i didn't have one on my car and i never had a problem. There were many times when i was driving in downpours and alot of rain. Just don't drive through any rivers and you should be ok.
