I have a B16A2 in my 97 hatch cx with mugen chipped p28, here is the problem, when i warm up the car, it idles at aroud 800rpm, thats normal right? but after i drove the car and stop at the stop light, the rpm drops to 200-300rpm back and fore, after about 10 seconds, it will go back to normal, then it will stay normal.. everytime it does this when i start the car after warm up...any one can help me? thx guys

Check your spark plugs. Is it black? Is it only happen when it's cold?
My p28 mugen program did that when I drop in the b16. I don't have the problem when I have the b20vtec and gsr motor.

I have the same issue....sometimes all notice it sitting at 1000rpms very smoothly....when i cut the J1 jumper in the ECU it restores the normal stock P28 settings(7200 rev limit )....my idling was fine when i did this but the car ran even worse through the rest of the band because of the stock fuel/ignition settings. I am going to get hondata s100.....i dont like the mugen chip...even though it performs well for the track and so on....the gas milage isnt worth the performance when your using it as a daily driver.

some chips have an erratic idle
alot of ebay chips are like that
there are however chips that dont have this problem
pm me for more info
I'd hate to turn this post into a shameless plug
oh and if you want a chip that gets good gas mileage try the j's chip

from what I understand a chip is a waste of money. If anytihng they run too rich on a stock motor. Do you have cams, pistons, FI? IF not lose the chip and run a stock map, maybe get a VAFC and lean it out a bit but do it on a dyno. Really the stock honda map for a stock motor is your best bet other than that you are wasting money and gas. If you need more fuel just unhook your 02 it will net about the same result, also not recommended.

Re: (6ghatch)
if the obd1 doesnt have the evap sensor, it does not matter if it is connected or not, since the ecu wont look for it, right? which pins on the p28 pinout is evap? thx 6ghatch for that pic. what ecu are you running??

I unplug the EVAP sensor, still doing the samething, and the strange thing is, I unplug the MAP or IACV sensor, the car dies out, should it be increasing idle?
and im using my cx harness, the IACV plugs have 3 wires, and I used the 2 wires plug, which 2 wires from the 3 wires plug am I suppose to connect to?

Your right, you may want to do a search in the ITR forum about the EVAP sensor. All I know is that it sometimes creates an erratic idle when using a OBD1 ecu setup. It helped with my setup.
I'm running the Skunk2 chip with a Fields VTEC controller.

Re: (6ghatch)
I unplugged my EVAP purge sensor and my car idles pretty nicely. Fluctuates a little bit during warmup, but then settles right in.
As for p28 being a waste--bullshit. I have tuned camgears and tuned v-afc on my car. Running this setup on the stock obd2 ecu was just a nightmare of CEL's stalling, rough starts and horrible idle.
I didn't go obd1 for poser, I did it for my sanity.
BTW, Kenji=the man when it comes to this stuff.
