Default Erratic idling, wtf?

’96 cx w/b16a2, and chipped p28

The car isnÂ’t giving out any CELS, I used to run a JDMR ecu on it before, I had two codes, but nothing related to the idle, just knock sensor, and electrical load detector or something.

Now what the car does is, whenever I am in neutral, usually when I am coasting in neutral or just come to a stop and am in neutral the idle keeps bouncing from 500-1500rpm, and sometimes after a bit it stops and idles at 1300 rpmÂ…I donÂ’t understand what the problem is, there are no CELS or anything.

By the way, it's been idling like this since i did the swap, with the jdm r ecu and chipped p28 with a stock b16 program.

try taking off the IACV and cleaning it or changing it, then make sure there's no air in the coolant system. also, do a search, there has been alot of topics on this subject.. good luck..

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by UROD &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">By the way, it's been idling like this since i did the swap, with the jdm r ecu and chipped p28 with a stock b16 program. </TD></TR></TABLE>

If it did the same idle surge with both the ITR and chipped P28 ECU's, I would look into: possible air in the coolant, dirty or bad IACV, possible vacuum leak at a gasket, hose or fitting, etc.

If it's not the IACV, it sounds like a vaccum leak.
