does exhaust really matter
i know the size of the exhaust piping matters, but how about mandrel bent pipe from a muffler shop versus a 500 dollar system.....i'm planning on going to a muffler shop and getting 2.5 inch piping and a magnaflo oval muffler.....sleeper style y0!

depends on your motor and setup. for your d16z6 it wouldn't make much difference. just don't get crush bent exhaust, and as for going 2.5 i would go 2.25 max on the little d16, otherwise you'll be losing some low end torque.

Remember that most muffler shops don't have or use mandrel bent tubing. Those that do mandrel bent tubing will be a lot more expensive. A custom exhaust system with mandrel bent tubing and magnaflow resonator/muffler will perform every bit as well as an aftermarket exhaust system. Just make sure to eliminate any bottlenecks in the system, such as the catalytic converter inlet/outlet.
If you go full 2.5" you'll need a new catalytic converter too.
