does a direct stock clutch fit an Si/Ex tranny?
i ordered a clutch off from ebay for my 1992 honda civic cx. now i might be buying a used Ex tranny. i'd like to know if it fits that model tranny?

thank you 94. should i risk buying this guy tranny? he said it has close to 200k miles on it. he said there's nothing wrong with it at all.

Thats a tough one, EX tranny will be far nicer then what you have now for acceleration, but its hard to say what kind of shape it will be in. My DX tranny has 360,000kms on it (216,000 miles) and it still shifts perfectly, it should have an input shaft bearing though as it makes some noise when the clutch is out in neutral. really it kind of depends on what he wanted for it, I probably wouldn't pay more than $200 for it. How many miles on your current tranny btw?

If it really is an EX tranny jump on it, you aren't likely to get one any cheaper.

'92 - '95 EX and Si are both exactly the same, '96 - '00 is geared the same but built a little stronger, all 3 are completely interchangeable and geared exactly the same. Note '99 - '00 Si transmissions are completely different and not compatibile.

if you have 200,000 miles on yours you might as well put an EX tranny with the same mileage in there. It would be nice to get it looked over first though, make sure there is nothing wrong with it.

Theres not really a whole lot you can do, ideally you would take it apart and look at it before putting it in but i know thats not an option for you.
