i thought i heard you need to let your engine get up to normal operating temp and then unhook the IACV and set the TPS w/o the IACV plugged in?

my idle was going crazy and so i was just gonna re-adjust the tps and when i unhooked the IACV the idle is fine, just a little low even...

To adjust the idle u allow the car to warm up to normal operating temp an than adjust it U do not disconnect the IACV. If ur not sure how to adjust the Idle if u have a stock honda throtle body there is a screw in it u just turn the screw ideal idle should be 750 to 850rpm

yeah i got the idle fixed, it's just the whinning noise from the tranny now, it doesn't do it when the clutch is pushed in or it's in neutral, and it only seems to do it when your decelerating a little bit or accelerating a little bit. i don't think it's the intake mani tho. i just put a stage 1 clutch and lightened flywheel on before i dropped the motor in too.

It's probably the input shaft bearing. I have the same problem and will be replacing the bearing sometime next week.

is it a very serious problem? i will be replacing it yes, but i'm just wondering if i could go a couple weeks w/o replacing it or messing with it?

I remembered how to do it wrong I got this straight from ALL Data
Idle Speed Adjustments
Allow engine to warm up
disconnect the 2p connector from the idle air control valve
start the engine with the accelerator pedal slightly depressed. stabilize the rpm at 1k then slowly release the pedal untill the engine idles
Idle Speed at this time should be 420 + or - 50rpm
Adjust the idle speed if necessary by turning the idle adjusting screw
After adjusting the idle speed in this step, recheck the ignition timing, refer to ignition system/ adjustments if it is out of spec adjust than repeat the entire process over again.
turn the ignition switch off
reconnect the 2p connector on the IAC vale then remove the back up (7.5 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box for 10 seconds to reset the Engine Control Module
Restart and Idle the engine with No-Load conditions for one minute than check the idle speed
at this time idle speed should be between 700 an 800rpm
Idle engine for one min. with headlights on an idle should remain at 7 to 800rpm turn the headlights off idle the engine for one minute with heater fan switch at hi and air conditioner on than
check idle speed idle should now be between 800 and 850

When setting the TPS you do so with the engine not running but the key switched to run.
When setting idle (this even shocked me, I've never done it
)
From the Helm Manuals
DC2 - disconnect IAC and EVAP purge valve
EK - disconnect the IAC and EVAP purge valve
EG - disconnect the EACV (same as IAC)
