Do grounding kits work, are they worth the money? Would they help with dimming lights
I have heard it both ways... do grouding kits really work? I've looked all over the internet and some people say they work some say they don't. Does anyone have any personal experience with these?
I am having some light dimming issues... I've checked all of my grounds, have a new high output aleternator that puts out good voltage, and an optima battery, all fuses are good... Still experiencing some light dimming? (the car dosen't have any extra aftermaket electronics like sound system or anything else)... Would a grounding kit help with this or what else could cause my lights to dim? At first it was just the dash lights under low rpm, now it's all of my lights.

how are the terminals themselves connected to the battery? any corrosion or looseness?

get hold of a voltmeter, start at the lightbulb testing for 12 volts and go back from there. loose wires, corroded plugs, just go over all the wiring for the headlights, you'll find the fault eventually.

it's not just the headlights... its the dash lights as well.... could it be some sort of a harness issue?

Works pretty solidly for me. HO 165 amp alt, with sound system & carputer on board and no lights dim even under the hardest bass notes.

^ Yup, or a bad wire to the alternator. A service manual will tell you how to check it. I have/had the same problem, and after checking the diagnosis it says my voltage regulator is bad. Strangely though, the problem has gone away now that I'm throwing a check engine light for my O2 sensor. Also just make sure that you tightened down the alternator enough, or that the belt isn't too tight or loose.
