DIY plug and play GSR cluster in EG
i change my mind a lot, and could never decide between my gsr cluster or my amber eg cluster, so i decided to pull a part an old one, and make a plug and play adapter harness for those of us who like to change stuff back and forth
i had my dad help out, it took 1 night to complete
0.) go to the junkyard and pick up integra or Ek clips and a set of EG clips- look at all of the other swap guides with wiring diagrams etc. before doing this
1.) strip out everything from the old eg cluster
2.) dremel out the corners where the stock EG clips go
3.) cut off the green and yellow clips from the EG cluster
4.) the easiest harness to make are these two, with the integra yellow clip its a straight solder
done
the green clip gets one wire to it from cruise control
5) using the wiring diagrams, mark each wire with what it corisponds too for both EG and integra wires
6.) i extended the length of each wire
7.) on the EG circuit board, use a razor to scrape off the protective coating on each pathway. tin the board, then the wire, and solder the two together
8.) basically do this for every wire. some of them cross over, we did those last. braid wires together that go to the same places
finished wiring
9.) glue the circuit board on and cover the wire tips in glue once you know they are all working correctly.
finished product
i am going to be using plastic epoxy and completely covering the circuit boards once i fix my one problem...
with the EG harness, the door ajar and ABS lights remain on. do you just take out the bulb? is the switch suppose to be grounded somehow? help

the EG pins do not fit in the blue EK/integra clips, nor do the EG clips fit the integra cluster

man props on diy, but i wouldnt trust the connections to the green circuit board, they look kinda fragile.
it seems like you could have figured out a better way but hey whatever works right.

I can’t re-pin them."
the whole point of making the harness was so that i wouldnt have to cut the original harness in my car

yea they were fragile until i poured super glue over them like crazy. once i figure out the door ajar and abs problem im going to cover the whole board with plastic epoxy.

Re: DIY plug and play GSR cluster in EG
Good idea but too much work....
This is what I did.
remove pins from the connectors ( eg ), solder the gsr wires on to the pin itself that way you don't have cut the wires on the car, if you want to put the old cluster back then simply desolder it out, and plug/pin it in the eg connectors.
Da-Taaaaa

Re: DIY plug and play GSR cluster in EG
it did the option to switch back and forth but i took a different approach. I took the pigtail blue connectors and extended the wires. Made them the same length with the civic connectors before they bundle to one harness and soldered the wires. so now i have 6 connectors branching out. I know the yellow srs connector all you have to do is switch 2 wires but i had the pigtail for that too so i just soldered that connector in for an even easier PnP.

Before you go any further, check out my DIY on making the cluster look stock in an EG:

Great Idea on making it plug and play like that!
