Distruibutor compatability question Obd1-obd2
Quick run down, I have a 1992 honda civic hatchback cx that im putting together from scratch. I got a good deal on a d16y7 block and head so i'm using that. It didnt come with a dizzy so I'm stuck in a predicament. I got ahold of a obd1 sohc dizzy but im not sure off of which model it came out of.
I want to know if any obd1 dizzy will be compatible with the d16y7 head? The bolt pattern is similar but its not right on. can I run just the top dizzy bolt and it will adjust fine or do I have to trim the dizzy and make it fit differently depending on what it came off of?
Also is there anyway I can tell what type of motor it came out of? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can run it, but the timing may be off somewhat. Your best bet is to find a D15B7/D15B8 distributor which will plug in and bolt up perfectly. The distributor you have sounds like its from a D16Z6/D15Z1/SOHC Vtec ZC/JDM D15B Vtec

any d series diz will work dont worry bout obd1 or 2 as long as ecu reads obd1 thats what it will run and you can run with one top bolt in it and it should run fine

Well bolt up will be different between them so timing will be off at some degree.
My question now is how do you tell the difference between different dizzys? I see ppl mention td41u dizzy and I have no idea where they found those numbers at? Thanks for the help guys!!
