Difficulty, and pointers on B16a (2nd gen) cam seal replacement????
I got a suspicious bit of oil seeping from the right side of my valve cover. Was wondering if there are any tell tale signs of what could be causing the leak, and if it IS the cam seal (as friends, and techs speculated) how difficult is the operation, and what does it entail?

Its easy to replace. Just remove your valve cover and pull the old one, then get an STP one or something and seal it up with hondabond or something and replace the cover.
Its a good idea to replace your seal anyways. My old 90 Integra SPEWED oil everywhere from the cam seal, you could sit ther eand litterally watch the seal jump around while the car was at idle.

If the leak is on the right side like you said, wouldn't that be the oil seal and not the cam seal. The cam seal is on the left side of the valve cover.

The seals on the right ( behind the cam gear ) are called cam "oil" seals. The seal on the left ( distributor side ) is called a cam seal. This is what we call them and have been doing so forever!

ok maybe true but in the end its for the cam, i call them all cam seals, and if your leak is coming from the t-belt side wouldnt this be the cause, or is it coming from somwhere else?

Yes, if the leak seems to be coming from the timing belt side then yes, it is the cam oil seals that can be pruchased from your dealer. Using a small amount of hondabond and making sure everything is clean, this should solve your problem. If the leak seems to be coming from the distributor side, then it's either the cam seal or the distributor o-ring seal. Any of these seals are very easy to replace and can be done in less than 30 minutes. Take a very close look at where the leak is coming from and go from there. If you need any help, please feel free to e-mail me at vince@goldeneaglemfg.com and I will walk you through the process.

I guess your the one that's totally wrong Thanks for misinforming him by calling the ones on the right a cam seal and he's gonna end up buying the wrong ones just because you think you know it all.
