Del Sol Oil Light?
Ok heres my newest problem.....when I start the motor my oil light comes on, I know usually this is normal and it goes away instantly, well when it comes on for like the first 2-3 seconds of the motor running it flickers on and off like its having problems, its not the normal start up and turn off of the light. Ive checked the oil level of course and its right on target level. Whats the issue here? Do you think my oil pump is going bad? How hard is that to replace?

Does sound like an oil pump. Not too hard to replace pump. Must drop oil pan and when you do the pump is right there. Take off a few bolts and bam your done taking it off, the same thing to put it back.
Dont be ghetto, change your oil pan gasket.

Similar problem, mine dosen't flicker but it stays on n extended time, I figure this means the level is low, I check it and it's fine? This is daily.... I basically gave up on it and bought an oil pressure gauge...?

Re: Del Sol Oil Light? (Grimm)
Well Im guessing I should replace the oil pump for safety but Im not sure on how muhc its going to cost? Also do oil pumps off the newer D16 motors like the y7; y8 work on the z6 or are they different, Ill probably try to pull a newer one out of a junkyard off a '00 civic or something if the newer ones work
EDIT: Well I guess my other question should be is it worth pulling a used one or should I straight up buy a new one? Im a college kid with limited money

it could also be something as simple as a faulty sending unit, bad wire connection that loses connection occasionally...i would recommend checking everything out first before you throw parts at it. nothing worse then to spend the time and money on a pump, only to find it was a chaffed wire or somthing.
Not that it couldnt be the pump, its just nice to be sure.

If it comes on and off it could mean that you might have air in the lines as the pump is trying to create pressure.
check the gasket right where the oil pick up and the block is.
if it goes away then you know your pump works.. its very rare to have a pump that works irratic.. they either work or dont.

Re: Del Sol Oil Light? (DelSolSi93)
it shouldnt...unless there was some kind of metal debris in the pan that somehow got stirred up and caught in the pump after the oil change was done.

Re: Del Sol Oil Light? (BlackFrog)
nah nothing like that happened, I know that air was brought up as a possible cause, I was just thinking that I let it drain longer than I usually do this last time and maybe that caused more air to get in or something, but that doesnt really make sense, could this just be a sign of my pump getting weaker and maybe going to fail soon? Also should I be concerned about driving it, even though the light doesnt stay on? I just know oil is no joke and i dont want to be causing any damage. Can anyone still answer my question about the oil pumps off the newer D16Y series fitting the Z6 and also the costs used/new?
