I had a 93 SI and i got around 300-350 in city driving, like mentioned before, change fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, and maybe check your air filter, tire pressure.

What kind of rims do you have? That makes a difference too, i went from 17's to 14" HX rims and my tank milage went up 35 miles

Damn, that's impressive!

There are number of factors that account for your fuel economy. You've already gotten some good suggestions.

You've never really mentioned if your Sol is stock or not. For example, if you have turbo & you're always in boost, your mileage is going to be crappy. It's not matter of where you do your driving, but how you drive.

If you notice on new cars, the gas mileage is different for city and highway. With any car, you'll get better gas mileage on the highway.

You don't need to use premium fuel (91 or greater octane) unless you have a del Sol VTEC. Del Sol S and Si models should use 87 octane with no problems, unless you are using forced induction, or built internals with high compression and advanced timing that requires premium fuel.

Using 91 octane will not net you an increase in fuel economy unless you are having detonation problems.

To get better fuel economy, drive slower and shift sooner - it's easy. How are you driving? If you are constantly running around above 4000 RPM and using VTEC often, then you'll get shitty mileage. If you cruise around in a lower gear than you need to keep the car moving smoothly (i.e. cruising in 3rd gear where 5th gear would work fine) then you'll also get shitty mileage. If you are constantly hitting 80-90 on the freeway, slow down.

WOT and revs are the enemy of fuel economy. Avoid both. Use only a little throttle, and keep the revs down. Don't let the car sit there and idle forever while you're not driving it. When you are coasting down a hill with the throttle closed, leave the car in gear instead of putting it in neutral and letting the car idle - the engine will shut off the fuel injectors until you open the throttle, thus you won't be using any fuel.

Oh, and if you have an automatic, you'll never have as good of mileage as with a manual transmission. If you live in an area with a lot of hills and stop-and-go driving, you won't get as good of mileage as in a flat area with a lot of open road.
