Default Del Sol - Best camber angle setup?

im driving a del sol VTi. its lowered and I have D2 rear and front camber kit. Now its -1.0 front and -0.2 rear. when I drive on the straight above 70mph the rear of the car goes left/right. the car starts to be very unsafe on the road. wich is the best camber angle for everyday use and sometimes racing on the street?

sorry for my bad english.. Greetings from Croatia

Sounds like you have another issue aside from the alignment. Something may be loose or bushings worn out.

For everyday driving, I would suggest no more than -1.5*

-1,5 both rear and front? ussualy I drive pedal to the metal more often than I drive normal on the street..

before I installed camber kit I had front -2.3 and rear left -0.9 and rear right -2.4 and the car handled much much better than today with new settings

Have you even had an alignment done on the car?

excessive toe-out on the rear wheels will cause instability at higher speeds.

yes I have..
front camber angle is -1.0
rear is -0.2
front toe is -0.03
rear toe is +0.07

I think I understand now why my car is instable at higher speeds. Is it because my rear is TOE-OUT? +0.07??

That little of toe out should not cause a problem. I still think the problem lies somewhere else. Do you have any pics of your rear suspension? Is it mostly stock or aftermarket?

Yeah, I'm thinking he has some worn bushings somewhere, although he should fix the toe situation.

As far as the BEST camber setup... a lot depends on what you're going to do with it. For straight line drag, front should be zeroed camber.

For optimum handling, I'd suggest a bit more negative camber front than rear. That should slightly lower grip in the rear and cause a bit more rotation.

Right now, I'm running -1.9 front and -2.1 rear, just because that's the way it ended up after I lowered it. Handles fantastic, but I think it would be better if I decrease it a touch in the rear... which I'm considering before my next alignment.

Now, if you're talking about just straight line launches, then the best camber is zero.

I have a feeling something is bent in the rear, -.9 on one and -2.4 on the other. That much cross cramber difference is really bad.

yes, I didn't notice that. There's NO good reason for that much difference in camber on a Civic with nonadjustable camber.

Is the car lowered? How much? -2.4 sounds right for a 3" lowered Civic/Sol with no camber adjustment. -.9 is very wrong. Seeing as how there is no camber adjustment on a Civic, any height adjustment should cause roughly the same camber adjustment on all 4 wheels.

I would seriously suspect a bent lower control arm on that side, because it would pull the bottom of the hub assembly towards the inside of the car, which would cause less negative camber. At this point, I'd actually be interested to see caster numbers too, although there's just about no way they can be out on one of these cars.

It's all geometry, mang.

A mechanic had my car 2day.. every part is ok..
first he changed the front camber to -1.5 and rear to -1.0.. it still wasnt good.. second time he changed rear to -2.0 and front -1.5.. now the rear is great but front is during driving unstable.. toe is zero.. 2morrow im leaving the car and he will experiment with it..
hmm, because rear is ok now and front is unstable, maybe it would be beter that front is near 0 and the rear can be -2.0??
