Decking/milling a Y8 Head
I'm building up a Y8 for boost. I have SRP 9:1 comp pistons, however, I want my compression to be higher as I want to make my power on pump.
Sorry if I'm not using the correct term, but how much can the head be milled/decked to raise the compression safely to around 9.8:1
Are there any side affects to doing this, could cause more chances of det?
Thanks

Re: Decking/milling a Y8 Head (ELSpool)
something you could do to make your compression a little higher is to just use the center layer of your headgasket. I believe its the center layer or something like that. Basically making it even thinner than the stock y8 head gasket. Not sure if this will raise your compression higher than you would want though.

I don't know if you can mill the head enough to get that much of a bump in compression. Is it too late to just get the SRP 10.5:1 pistons and a thicker head gasket?

I asked because I bought them at a crazy price. So I would not bother with getting new pistons, and 10.5:1 is alittle too high for my boost project.
