Default I might be getting free coilovers.... :P

Alright this isnt your average "which should i get" threads. I recently placed an order to jhpusa for a bunch'o'parts. (carbon hood, carbon duckbill, carbon hatch, omni full coils, omni camber kit). OK, then they just sent me this email:

We received your money orders today for the parts. We would like to know
if you want to switch the camber kit and coilovers from omni for other
parts. We can give you the skunk2 camber kit and D2 adjustable coilover
suspsension for the same price. If not, that is ok, we will just have to
order the omni suspension which may take severaly days. We look forward
to hearing from you.

Now, the D2 coilovers look like a pretty sweet deal to me. they are after all 32 way adjustable. i will probably hardly ever adjust them out of factory spec but i just want to know if A) anyone knows anything about the SPRING RATES, AND DAMPER LIFE compared to Omni's. and, B) anyone has had any firsthand exp. with them. i believe that they are pretty new to the market tho. I dont really want to be the social guinea pig here. And C) in what ways are they "32 way adjustable"

BTW heres a link to the D2 coilovers... http://www.jhpusa.com/catalog/...4557b

D2 has been around WAY longer than gay *** "OMNIPOWER" and I've been rocking their LCA's on my EG for about four years now. No complaints at all, D2 makes a wicked product.

well coming from someone w/ 7500+ post i see that as a pretty reputable opinion. I just searched, and found some feedback that came moistly frrom auto-xers saying that they couldnt take track beatings, but i might take these things to a track MAYBE once... Keep the info a'comin.

I LOVE FREE STUFF!!!!!! LOLOLOLOL

Both are cheap garbage. You get what you pay for.

But it does not matter which suspension you use, if you do not track your car. Your car will not be anywhere near the limit on the street.

That said, no off the shelf coilover with off the shelf spring rates will be optimal for track use.

I can also agree with this statement. Then again, "optimal for track use" is 100% conditional and subjective. If you're running around on a track for fun once in a while, D2's or Koni Yellows will be just fine. If you're running Honda Challenge as a full time job, you don't ask this question.

well, thats one question down... Now, what about the 36-way adjustability. how exactly do they differ from onmis in that category?

Adjustability is just a sales tactic.

Are you familiar with rebound and compression and when to adjust each?

If either suspension was worthwhile, JHP would not have given you the option of switching in the first place.

i have OmniPower coilovers on my EG SI hatch and love them! they are hardley what i would consider garbage. Every employee at my shop rides omnipowers and loves them, handles awsome, rides good (if u get the streets), no problems, and best of all the price for what you get. we have all had different sus. before from neuspeed to tein, and we are sticking with the omnipowers!

Im not saying there the best in the world, just the best for the money!

D2 alow you to adjust the dampening of the strut....omni's do not.
i heard that omni is working on a set of adjustable ones but not sure if this is true or not.

right now...i think bang for your buck D@ is better then omni.
i'm not knocking omni, but until they have dampen adjustability D2's are better IMO.

plus i know that D2 can be fully taken apart & things can be bought seperately if worn out or damaged, springs, shock body, shock, etc...
not sure if omni does this.

I would definitely go with the D2 coilovers. D2 has track experience with their products also. I think they sponsor several cars in a Taiwan-based race series. This is a little more comforting to me, and I have also heard less complaints over OMNI.

i've got omni streets on my 2001 itr, and i love em. no complaints at all.

michael- i won't hate on D2s, but omnipower isn't gay-*** stuff. steve rothenbeuhler (sp?), the guy who did 95% of skunk2s R&D is omniman on here, and he started omnipower. i'll stand behind all of his products. i work at autolabz with keith (eg-ek-riden, he's not quite as ghey as his username) and we sell tons of omnipower stuff.

for the price, you can't beat omni's
