B16 OIL BURN QUESTION
I just recently had topped off my b16 with royal purple 5-30 on my 2000 EM1 last month.
now allready its below the second dot. i drive it 15 MILES A DAY but is it normal
for it to BURN OIL this quick (NO LEAKES AT ALL) MAYBE HIGH RPMS

Re: B16 OIL BURN QUESTION (M1-UNIT)
Driving it hard will burn oil more quickly. Do you literally race all 15 miles you drive each day? You should not be losing that much oil.

Re: B16 OIL BURN QUESTION (nighttrain33)
YEAH about that many miles but i will admit that i drive and cruisE hard AT HIGH RPMS every now and then , I have my VTEC CONTROLLER SET AT 4500 WITH MY THROTTLE SET WIDE OPEN WIDE WHEN IT KICKS IN AS WELL WITH THE NARROW THROTTLE. More fuel at sacrifice

Don't set vtec that low ! It was set at 6200 from the factory for a reason, and anyone else on here will tell you the same thing. But like I said. The vtec pressure switch needs oil to activate, so when the oil gets low, the vtec will not work or will work erratically.

There is absoluly no reason why your VTEC should be at 4.5k unless you have Dual Stage Intake Manifold. Other then that your VTEC should be around 5-6k Maybe more if you have some serious cams My b16a used to use oil all the time. Drive it normal and see what happens. Like for example under 5 grand.

USDM B16A2 = 5400rpm vtec engagement
JDM B16A2 = 6100rpm vtec engagement
Having your's at 4500rpm will make you burn oil and also make your power band shitty.

I did switch to 5500 VTEC Engagement
and had started cruising below 5k I only had Done this 4500 vtec thing since i got my obx cam shafts which are replicas of the Jun3s and CTR cams With stiffer springs and racing retainers. I do understand that hiher RPMs=Stronger VTEC PULL {the more the marrier} NOW I HAVE TO BUY MORE OIL
10W 30 THIS TIME.

So, you have a 2000 Si with a JDM B16 motor swap? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but hey.
