Bitch pin is where the shifter arm connects to the transmission, and it's not an issue to get out if you have the proper size punch...though I too used to struggle with it before figuring it out.
<hijack>What are you doing with that old Z6?</hijack>

I could swap a d16 for another d16 in probably 4 hours max. Its only a total of 8 bolts (3 motor mount bolts, and 3 catylitic converter and 2 axle bolts) and the bitch pin. And you gotta pop the axels out of the tranny.
P.s use a air hammer for the bitch pin.

yea deff pull the engine and tranny together then break it outta the car. much easier. we did our first swap not knowing what to do in 6 hrs or 18'er of beer. jk. its really easy jus disconnect everything that is connected from car to motor and label stuff if you forget things easy. or even better take pics. good luck

Don't even bother with the pin. Just undo the bolt at the shifter and pull the linkage out with the tranny. The tranny is really light so whenever I do this, I just take the tranny off, slide it out from under the car and then pull the motor.

Nah its pretty easy to do. WHy are you swapping one z6 for another one? Is your new one built or something? And to all you guys with the bitch pin. I just replaced my bitch pin with a bolt, lockwasher and nut. So it takes me like 2 mins to get it out
You just have to find a bolt thats exactly the same size so that it shifts properly.

my shifter has extremely little to no play. The Bolt is a solid fit.

Well then it MUST be good. LOL. I'm with ya, but that's anecdotal if I've ever heard it.
Anyway, OP, what do you have in terms of engine lift/hoist? I'm wondering what I'd need to pull the engine when the time comes myself. Never had to do it.

tell ya the truth if you and ur buddies are somewhat of good size you can pull it out bare handed. my engine and tranny seemed to be about 250 lbs. we had to lift it up to the hoist since it wouldnt go all the way to the ground.

Let's see...My buddies that would be willing to help me work on my car: Cant think of any. My friends don't even work on their own cars. I can go to the MWR shop and use their equipment if I have to but then I'm on the clock and it gets pricey. Everything I do I have to plan it out to make sure I can do it alone. Well, not really, my wife can press the brake pedal while I turn the bleed screws, or she can press the brake pedal while I torque the axle spindle nut, and she's really good at holding the brake pedal when I torque the crankshaft pulley.
