Default D16Z6 SOHC VTEC

Is there anyway to improve the VTEC output besides all kinds of money into it? the crappy thing has 167,300 miles on it and was thinking of taking out the selinoid and cleaning it, if it will help...who knows, help me out thanks.

you could get a new cam, new motor, or FI
i dunno what you expect out of vtec but the only way it's going to give you more power than it already does is what i have listed

You're not going to feel the crossover that much with a SOHC VTEC. Some people even bitch at it with a DOHC VTEC. But, as long as it works, why bother? Do upgrades. Port and polish your cylinder head, upgrade your valvetrain, get some forged rods, high compression pistons, etc...the D16Z6 isn't too bad of a platform to work on.
