D16z6 SOHC Vetec cam gear?
Does anyone know if its worth adding a cam gear to this motor, or if its possible to really get any gains off a SOHC with it? the motor is mostly stock.....

You need to be more specific, because just the answer "no" is wrong. An adjustable cam gear gives the ability to shift the powerband higher or lower and with a motor that is designed for low-mid range power such as D16Z6, this can be very useful if you are building the motor for more high rpm horsepower. If we are speaking about a D16 with absolutely no other mods then yes you are correct, the cam gear is useless. The problem with you ****** B Series guys is you think the fact that you can tune overlap with your cam gears is the greatest. All you have to do with a D Series is choose an aftermarket cam with the proper amount of overlap for your application to begin with, get a cam gear and tune. LEARN TO TUNE.

Spend $4000 on a swap when you could've built a nasty D Series for less than half that. So it's not the best thing to do for someone on a budget.

damn i came in here expecting people to pick on him for spelling it vetec and only one person said something to him... im suprised maybe honda-tech is growing up a lil bit
as for the cam gear, like many other said, not good for stock cam but with aftermarket cam its def a plus if not a requirement if you want to get the most power out of the cam

thats why i built my D16z, if it ends up blowing, they are dime a dozen. i could probably get couple of d16's for the price of 1 b series swap. lol i say fix what you got, unless you have bottomless pockets.
