D16Z6 Engine Cutting Out/Power loss?
D16Z6 Engine Cutting Out/Power loss?
While driving to work the engine started lagging in spurts then sustained power for a while then lagged again..
It did it in all gears..
Can anyone give me an idea of where to start trouble shootin at?
Fuel Pump, Alternator, i was thinking.. spark plugs were changed bout 4 years ago?

Re: D16Z6 Engine Cutting Out/Power loss?
If the last maintenance was 4 years ago you're due for several parts: fuel filter, plugs, spark wires, cap and rotor.
The fuel pump in these cars is relatively trouble-free and often goes the life of the car.
Misfiring at low rpm and heavy throttle is usually weak sparks. Misfiring at high rpm and heavy throttle is usually starving for gas.
You can check fuel flow by disconnecting the return hose from the regulator to the line on the firewall. Disconnect the firewall end and direct the hose from the regulator into a container. Turn the key on but don't start. While the pump primes you should get a decent stream of fuel not a trickle.
