hey HT my z6 has recently been giving me problems on hot and cold starts, it doesnt always happen but when it sits overnight its the worst. I've replaced the fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs (gapped properly), main relay and ignition coil. Ive checked the spark and i have good spark on all cylinders, i can hear the fuel pump priming when the key is turned to on but the car just cranks and cranks. Sometimes if i pump the gas pedal i can get it to start othertimes i just hear what i can only describe as a burping noise.

not sure if its relevant but i did a compression check as well and i have compression ranging from 182 to 195 on all cylinders.

any thoughts on it?

Although fuel pump is working correctly, did you check the injectors? Are they spraying at all? What about the vacuum? Did you check if there's suction at all? You said it starts when you give it gas? When you press gas pedal, it opens up the throttle, letting more air in. That means, there's something wrong with your vacuum.

Check fuel injectors and vacuum.

ill be pulling and cleaning the injectors tomorrow after work to check them. i tried searching for how to check for vacuum and i didnt come up with anything, do you have a good link for an easy way to do it?

Try to start the car with pumping gas paddle. Then, check your idle. If it's too low, then you got a problem there.

Try pushing the throttle to close. So, try to pull it and see if your idle drops or kills the engine. Then you got a problem there.

Try closing the top IACV hold inside throttle body. If there's no suction, you got a problem there.

It could be multiple problems at once. Check fuel first.

I pulled and cleaned the injectors today when i got off work, they were black when i started but i got them back to the brown they should be. My vacuum appears to be good because when i cover the throttle body or just the top hole the car dies.

Im still somewhat unsure of where i need to be looking to see if the injectors are spraying. Do i need to pull my plugs to check that?
