d16z6 or dohc non-vtec zc...
hey, did a search but i couldn't find exactly what i wanted answered.
going to drop either a d16z6 (125 or 127hp + vtec i believe) or a dohc zc non-vtec (140hp).
which one will give me more overall performance in my '94 dx hatch? thanks.

Stick w/ teh Z6 or JDM D15B since your car is OBD1. Unless you can get your hands on the rare OBD1 DOHC ZC.The Z6 or D15B will probably be cheaper though.
BTW the DOHC ZC is rated at 130ps which is roughly 128hp.

I was reading the other day, that the D15 should pass smog relatively easily. I don't have that concern here in TX. I would imagine that the DOHC is harder to pass smog with.......maybe check w/ some CA residents.

ok and after doing a bit of research it seems that the JDM d15b is just a watered-down version of the z6....same HP rating except 1.5L instead of the 1.6L (z6). is there something i'm missing or is this correct?

Most people say that tehy prefer the D15 over the Z6. I have read alot of the older posts in archive about this, and the consensus is that the 1.5 revs faster & is more responsive than the Z6......
