Is a d16z6 Crankshaft pulley reverse threaded?
My power steering pump was and Im really not sure about this. Also does anyone have any advice for removing this bolt with an Automatic? I ave the haynes and the helm and niether give advice on either of these and I dont know where to buy the tool the Helms speaks of.

So theoretically I should be able to attach a long breaker bar that touches the ground to the bolt and crank the engine over a few times, and the bolt should pop right off right?

Get an Impact gun, and have someone hop in the car and put the brakes to the floor with the car in 5th gear, Thats how you're gonna get it off....

Yea no 5th gear no flywheel. I have an air compressor can just rent an impact. But how do I get it to stay stationary?

Use an impact gun, or a breaker bar and the crank pulley tool. I would not use the method you're considering.

Have someone get in the car while your turning to mash the brakes.

If you try that method you're thinking of, it'll tighten the bolt not loosen. I'll see if I can post a pic of the tool I used to hold the pulley still, big breaker bar type handle with a chain that is suppose to loop around the pulley.

Go guy yourself an Impact Gun. You can get one pretty cheap...
There are two things to remember when using an Air Impact:
1.) You need HIGH PRESURE. (Let you compressor pump up as high as it will go. I have my compesser set to pump up to 140... my tank is rated to 150 and open the regulator all the way)
2.) When using your gun, use it with short repetative blasts. DO NOT HOLD THE TRIGGER DOWN... this will not work. Pull the triger for a second, let it go.. then pull it for second and let it go... .keep repeating ... sometimes it takes 10 blasts or so for it to break the bolt free..... it will work.... also make sure that your air pressure is high.. and that your regulator is also set high.

Pop the bottom cover off on the tranny (bell housing by oil pan). Theres like 4 bolts I believe. JAm a pry bar or something strong in-between the teeth of the flex plate. Then just use you breaker bar & some muscle.
DO NOT CRANK THE CAR WITH A BREAKER BAR ON THE PULLEY. Save yourself trouble.

Best thing is getting the special crank pulley tool to hold it in place, even an impact won't always break that bolt loose. I never tried locking the flexplate/flywheel though, that would probably be the next best thing.

I had the same issue with my car. I even tried a 3/4 in. drive impact, the engine rotated. I modified a brass sprinkler fitting to work. The crankshaft pulley has a hex pattern to it. I found this tool that is the correct tool for the job.
