d16z6 but what tranny
Bought a 93 vx hatch.. assumed it had the stock d15 but to my surprise it has been swapped with the d16z6. Chassis shows 160k miles so I assume the motor has +- 10k? A deal if I say so.. anyway..
How do I tell which tranny it has? I want to know if they kept the stock vx tranny or mated the d16 with the ex or si tranny.

I was pretty happy to find the VX for my 26 mile commute each way.. this should will just make it a tiny bit more spirited.

That transmission number won't indicate whether it's the DX/VX/CX/EX/SI tranny from the 92-95 era. they all say P20 or is it S20 with a serial number if I recall correctly. The 96-00 D's are S40 I believe.
The casing embossed stamp by the differential that has the P20/A000 or P20/B000 will be the clue if it might be the original tranny. If it's the P20/A000, then there is some trick about spinning the crank pulley with the gearbox in reverse and watching the wheel spin to get your final gear ratio.
