Default D16y8 tranny the same as D16z6 trans?

I'm doing a auto-2-manual conversion on my 93 ex. I want to know if I can use a tranny of a d16y8? Is it the same as the d16z6? I know that the d16y8 is from newer ex's.

get the EX tranny, the shift forks are steel and will bend before they break the z6 tranny shift forks are aluminum and will break easier, plus less miles

Yes, and to elaborate on what was already said, it will bolt right up.

If you need help getting the old one off check a thread made by me in the FAQ thread.

not much. I got all the parts at a local salvage yard for about $65(hardlines clutch and master cylinders, pedals) . Other than the tranny, which will prob. be like $200-$300 dollars for a low mileage tranny. Other than that I need a auto-2-manual tranny mount $150. I think I can get the local yard to give me the clutch and flywheel with the trans. So all in all, prob. like $550 not counting the 5-speed cluster and ecu.

No sir. A B series tranny will not bolt to a B series block.

I dont really know, but I dont think that a shift assembly from a b16 would fit a d16. But I could be wrong. Anyway if your gonna do it, good luck.

uh, what? That doesnt make sense. Plus I think he was asking if he could use the shift linkage of a b16 on a d16.

meant to say, A D series tranny will not bolt to a B series block. You can't use the shift linkage unless you are puttin a B series motor in an Ek.

I found a tranny for $50 locally, but the guy says that it is stuck in gear. So is there anything I can do? like change the gears? If so, How much would that cost?
