D16Y8 rod bearing & crank issue
Picked up a 2000 civic dirt cheap, with a loud knock. Pulled off the oil pan, and crank girdle to find not only a lot of slop in one rod bearing, but scoring inside one cap next to it. Crank has some scoring on it also, just barely enough to catch your nail on. Oil squirter on the crank girdle for that cap also looks like something forced its way through it, pretty chewed up.
Is there a way I can just polish up that crank journal and slap a used cap and girdle, and rod bearing, and run it? Realistically if the car isn't beat on, can this last awhile? Wouldn't be able to pull motor till next summer. Only has 130k on it.
Planning on just getting it running and giving it to my sister, since cosmetically she's rough on cars and this one has crap for paint.
