D16Y8 intake manifold on D16Y7 motor?
Hi i had a question simular to this post and as i could not find or post a thread close to this so i hope its alright if i ask here. im looking at a 2000 dx hatch myself. bone stock. 84k.
ok ive worked on a few cb7's so i know a little bit bout the f22a1/4/6 series intake manifolds, looking at most y7's the manifolds/plenums look the same but on the dx it is very different and so is the air intake. was wondering what effect this has compaired to the others?
my builds are more efficiency based i dont street race so just trying to get answers on a standard point of view.
when im able to post my own thread i will repost as my own. and drop pics of the differences. just didnt want to waist space here...

oh ok thanks. was hoping to get more insight on comparing to dx model to the cx model if one of the manifolds was i different size on the part that connects to the air intake(yes im a noob and dodnt know what its called properly...), i dont plan on changing it accept maybe the air intake. just trying to see if i should wait till something else comes along. or if i sholuld swoop this one up, id basically be stealing this car from a customer trade in.

1996-2000 CX and DX Civic Hatchbacks both came with Y7 non-vtec motors. Both of their throttle bodies were mounted up-facing so the "part that connects to the air intake" is just that, it's called the throttle body. You say you want the Y8 intake manifold, which is found in the y8 motors that came in USDM EX trims (sedan & coupe); where the throttle body is horizontally mounted and the air intake protrudes from the left. The thing about it though, is it would be easier to swap the intake manifolds from y7 to y8 if you get an automatic Y8 intake manifold. The reason is explained in the DIY's because it has to deal with the 3-wire IACV (links below). Also, I believe some B-series throttle bodies will work with the y8 manifolds. Anywho, I would say the Y8 manifold is more of an aesthetic than a performance upgrade, it's quite a bit of work for a grocery getter.

thanks so much for that info, ya im not going for a performance upgrade, its only got 84k on the motor n chasy and i wanna make it last i got a couple classic cars i show and i want something to putt around in i just want it to run better. not so much upgrade.
