d16y8 head on d16y7 make same amount of power as d16y8??
so i have the mini me swap i guess is what you call it and i was woundering if you would get the same power from the swap? and i was also woundering if the blocks are the same and can handle the same amount of rpms? i also heard the mini me swaps are faster because the compression is higher but i wasn't sure on that one.. if someone could help i would greatly appreciate it thanks brett...

While you've got the head off, put in some d16a6 pistons for an 11.5:1CR...more power and tq thru-out the powerband. d16a1 pistons will work too, but will shoot CR up to 13.5 w/ a y8 head. HTH.

Bottom ends are identical, so in theory, a Y8 head and headgasket on a Y7 *should* yeild identical numbers.

I've got some ZC and D16A6 piston/rod combos lying around if you are interested...the A6 will work without valve clearance issues and makes around 11.2:1 CR with the Y8 head and head gasket, the ZC pistons will probabally have to be machined to clear the valves.
