D16y5 into a D16y8
Hey guys i've done some looking around and i havent spotted it yet. i have a d16y5 in my car now. I just bought a complete y8 head. Now i know the heads are the same and the valvetrains are different but i want to convert my y5 head into a y8. Since i havent ever tinkered with mixing matching d series motors and from what i already know about the d16y5/d16y8 (as far as their similarities) can i just take out the cam and valvetrain from the y8 head and install it into the y5, making it a y8 motor (besides the compression)? Is there any link that you guys know of tHat can put me in the right direction or does someone know off-hand? There isnt anything particular that needs to be done right? This way i wouldnt have to pull the head off (cause this motor doesnt smoke or anything negative) and still convert it to a y8 (and sell the y5 head

anyone else have a take on this, like whether or not i can just swap over the rockers and cam since the heads are the same. Im just trying to do that since the motor will be swapped out anyway. trust me i can do the head swap i just dont want to put money into a motor that A) i wont keep in the NEAR future and B) the motor and head are fine as is i just want to change those parts and want to know if it will be all good. better yet ill figure it
