D16Y7 crank pulley
How hard is it to change out a crank pulley? I have a D16Y7 with the stock crank pulley and no AC or power steering and I want to get rid of the extra weight. I found a lightweight crank pulley on passwordjdm.com and was wondering how hard it was to change. Anybody changed one out before?

In my experience it differs a lot. I've had them come off easy, and i've had the bolt break off in the crank.. I suggest you use lots of PB Blaster. It's a penitrating oil found at any auto parts store. works wonders

pull the belt off and then get a 17mm socket(ibelieve thats what mine is)and get and impact gun on it or your not moving it before you do anything get the pb blaster and let it sit and soak it to no end and it should pop off it not you could tap it with a hammer or might have to get a puller

It's not hard to replace the crank pulley. If you have penetrating oil and a long breaker bar, you should have little difficultly.
However, I would strongly recommend not using lighter one. That's probably not what you wanted to hear in this thread, but I thought I should throw it in.

D16Y7 D16Y8 differences
BTW, I just found out that I have a D16Y8, not a Y7. My dad and I were installing the carbon fiber hood I just bought and I looked at the engine block and it said D16Y8. I just assumed when I got it that it was a Y7, hmm. Now, can anyone tell me the differences between the two. Thanks.
